About the project
LDC works with Tiwi Traditional Owners to help facilitate investment and development opportunities on the Tiwi Islands in a way that supports local jobs, training and long-term community benefit.
This work is guided by a Development Framework Agreement, which sets out how land can be made available for suitable projects and how investor engagement is managed, in line with Tiwi governance and decision-making.
LDC’s current outlook recognises that leasing activity has been limited to date. LDC is working with Tiwi governance partners to refine its role so it better aligns with local capability and local decision-making, including a more direct approach to engaging with proponents while retaining a pathway for investor-ready leasing arrangements where appropriate.
